Synopsis
A true story of healing, redemption, and the courage to create a new reality.
A woman who grew up in a violent and precarious environment decides to break free from the mental patterns that limit her ability to achieve success and fulfillment.
Liberándome tells the extraordinary story of Hazel Ortega, a Mexican-American woman and daughter of undocumented migrants whose lives were shaped by hardship and resilience. Her journey becomes a powerful testimony of self-determination and transformation. From an early age, Hazel chose to rewrite her destiny, leaving behind self-pity and breaking the mental chains of a painful and violent past marked by extreme poverty.
Based on her book From Bounced Checks to Private Jets, the play captures the moment when Hazel—now a psychologist and seeker of purpose—experiences a profound catharsis guided by an angelic entity that takes her into a timeless dimension where the past, present, and future unfold before her eyes. Through this spiritual and emotional journey, she confronts her fears, her history, and her faith, ultimately realizing that miracles are not coincidences but the natural result of vision, mindset, and inner strength.
In this powerful adaptation written by Adriano Numa and Gerardo Lazos, the story becomes a mirror for the audience. Liberándome is told in the first person, as Hazel invites everyone to recognize that the daily miracles she created are within reach for anyone willing to believe, to act, and to transform their own destiny.
